Saturday night at 9:15 o'clock at St. Joseph's hospital, occurred the death of William O'Herran, a Keokuk resident for over a quarter of a century and a man held in high esteem by a wide circle of friends here. Death was caused by infirmites incident to old age. Mr. O'Herran being past ninety years old. He had been living at the hospital the last five years.

Mr. O'Herran was a native of Ireland, having been born in the parish of Tulla, King's county, November 11, 1826. When twenty-three years old he emigrated to the United States settling first in Columbus Ohio. From Columbus he moved to Louisville, Kentucky, and later came to Keokuk. After living here two years and during that time worked as a section foreman on the Rock Islan d railroad. In 1889 he moved back to Keokuk and lived here since.

There are no surviving relatives. Mr. O'Herran's wife, formerly Catherine Smith, to whom he was married here in the year 1865, has been dead twenty-eight years. John H. Mulligan of Ottumwa, who was reared by Mr. O'Herran, is in Keokuk to take charge of the funeral. While living at the hospital, Mr. O'Herran attended St. Mary's Roman Catholic church.
