John K. Weaver Dead

John K. Weaver died Monday evening Feb. 18, 1918, at his home in Bentonsport, Iowa. Mr. Weaver's illness was diabetes, with complications. He had been ill three weeks, perhaps seriously so from the first, but he did not complain, knew the end was at hand, and passed away in perfect peace.

John Keller Weaver was born in Pennsylvania, August 14, 1841, and was 76 years, 6 months and 4 days old at his death. When 19 years of age he came with his parents to Van Buren county, Iowa. The family rented several farms, and finally purchased one north of Bentonsport.

In Washington township the young man met with his future wife, Miss Mary J. Mitchell. Four children bless the union, George E., now of Eldon, Iowa; Otto K., of Oklahoma; John Edward, of Kansas City; and Miss Etta, always at home with her parents.

Mr. Weaver moved his family to Bentonsport about 34 years ago, and has since resided in this place. The sons found opportunities and homes in other places. At the age of 15 he joined the United Brethren church, in Pennsylvania, but later became a member of the Methodist church in Bentonsport. He was a conscientious, industrious man. His wife and children were at his bedside when the end came and were devoted to the husband and father.

The funeral will be from the Bentonsport Presbyterian church, Thursday at 2 p.m. Burial in the Bentonsport cemetery.
