Charles H. Middlton
Thursday, March 7, 1918, Charles H. Middleton died at his home in Bonaparte, the result of stragulated hernia. His age was 82 years, 6 months and 27 days. He is survived by a wife, three sons and one daughter. He was a veteran of the Civil War.
For a number of years he was in business in Bentonsport and later moved to Bonaparte where he was engaged in the grocery business for a long time, retiring from active work a few years since. Mr. Middleton was popular as a merchant and always commanded a large patronage.
He was of a genial nature and had a host of warm friends. He was a republican in politics and a long time member of the Masonic order. His familiar and kindly face will be missed by residents of Bonaparte.
Funeral services were held in the Presbyeritan church at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon, March 9, Rev. Mason of Donnellson, formerly pastor of the Bonaparte Presbyterian church, preaching the sermon. The Masons had charge of the services at the grave, interment being in the Bonaparte cemetery.
