Charles Fremont Leavitt, son of John S. and Lucy A. Leavitt, was born in Sanbornto, New Hampshire, December 4, 1857. He came to Bonaparte, Iowa, with his mother, brother and sister in December, 1865. He united with the Mt. Zion Baptist church at Bonaparte, Iowa, in the winter of 1873, and was an active member as long as he remained in the place. He was married to Elousha A. Clark, February 18, 1881, who survives. To this union was born one son, Charles Lynford, and one grandson also survives. Of his father's family two sisters and one brother preceded him in death. One sister, Mrs. H.A. Whitmore of Bonaparte, remains, also four nephews and three neices. He has resided in and near Mt. Zion, Iowa, about 29 years. He was a kind and loving husband and father, a good neighbor, and respected by all who knew him. The funeral service was held at the Mt. Zion Presbyterian church Sunday morning at 11 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Mitchell, burial in the Forbes cemetery.
