Leonard Wood Davis, who had been in poor health for about five years, passed away Monday at five o'clock.
He took much worse about ten days before his death and failed rapidly but his suffering was not so great and death came very peacefully.
He was born in Van Buren County, April 19, 18979 and died Dec. 23, 1912, at the age of thirty-three years, eight months and four days. Leonard was the eldest son of Samuel Davis, who passed beyond twenty years ago, and Jessie Woods Davis, who together with three brothers and two sisters, Cass M., of Alberta, Canada; Earle of Montana, Zulu of Arkansas, Grover and Lizzie who are at home, are left to mourn their loss.
He spent several years in the west, taking a claim in the Imperial Valley, California, being there when taken sick, was brought home by is brother Grover who tenderly cared for him for nearly four years.
His suffering all these years was intense, but he bore it with remarkable patience and strength, his mind and memory being good until the very end. Leonard will be greatly missed by his home folks, many relatives and friends.
The funeral was held from his mother's home on Thursday, Dec. 26, and the body laid to rest in the Bonaparte cemetery.
