Death of J.D. Hornby.

Only a few days ago, through a friend at Bentonsport, we learned of the death of J.D. Hornby at Logan, Iowa, which occurred about two months ago. Mr. Hornby during the early Sixties was prominent in the school work of Van Buren county, where he was principal of the schools of Bentonsport and where he taught for several years. There he was married to Miss Sarah Brown in 1867, who died a number of years ago, leaving two daughters, Mrs. Clara Townsend and Mrs. Charles Yates. Mr. Hornby will be remembered by many residents of Van Buren county, of whom quite a number were scholars of his at Bentonsport when that town ranked as one of the best, if not the best, in this county.
