Sarah Margaret Shuster was born at Lebanon, Iowa, Sept. 20, 1849, and died at her home in Vernon Saturday morning, March 18th, at the age of 67 years, 6 months and 2 days.

When nearing young womanhood she moved with her parents to this vicinity where she has resided ever since with the exception of four years residence in Missouri.

Sarah Shuster was married to Samuel Marriott Sept. 17, 1866, at Keosauqua and this union was blessed with seven children, two dying in infancy and a daughter, Mrs. Rhoda Scott, having passed away several years ago. Those remaining to mourn the death of their mother and companion are Opha and Lemuel of this place, Mrs. Janie Russel of Birmingham, and Mrs. Myrtle Stanton of Newton; also a loving and devoted husband, twelve grandchildren and five great grand-children.

She had a loving care and companionship of all her loved ones during her last illness and every little deed of love and kindness was done to ease the pathway of suffering and death.

She and her husband had lived a happy married life for nearly fifty years. Had she lived until September, they could have celebrated their golden wedding anniversary and her taking away is a sore bereavement to him, in which his friends sympathize deeply. She was a kind and loving wife and mother, and a generous neighbor, and will be sadly missed in the community.
