Mary Mildred Farnum (**Handwritten: PROPER) was born April 8, 1890, in Harrisburg township, Van Buren county, Iowa, and died Feb. 9, 1917, at the Ralston hospital El Paso, Texas, aged 26 years, 10 months and 1 day.

Sept. 8, 1910, she was united in marriage with Craig F. Proper who with one little daughter, Donna, are left to mourn the loss of wife and mother.

She was the daughter of Clinton and Lucy Farnum and the sister of Carl W. Farnum and Gertrude V. Heidt.

Her maiden life was spent in Harrisburg township and Fairfield, Iowa. Her high school and college education was received at Fairfield high school and Iowa State Teacher's College, Cedar Falls. Since her marriage she has resided in Chicago, Ill., Stanford and Wibaux, Montana, Las Cruces, New Mexico, and lastly, at El Paso, Texas.

In early life she confessed Christ and united with the Harrisburg church; later she affiliated with the Presbyterian church of Stanford, Montana and Las Cruces, New Mexico, and lastly with the Altura Presbyterian church of El Paso, Texas. She taught a class of boys in the Sunday School of the latter church and which Rev. W.C. Baber, her pastor, said was much attached to her.

Funeral services were held at the Farnum home Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 13, Rev. Peterson and Rev. Mason conducted the funeral services and the remains were laid to rest in the family lot in the Vale cemetery.
