John P. Stark.

John P. Stark was born May 8, 1829,in Indiana, and passed to his reward on Saturday evening, July 29, 1916, at his home in Bonaparte, Iowa, aged eighty-seven years, two months, and twenty-one days. He came to Iowa with his parents in 1844 and settled near Des Moines.

He was married quite young and to this union three children were born, of whom one is living, a daughter, Mrs. Lamb, of Shambaugh, Iowa, and three grandsons. His first wife departed this life five years after the marriage.

He lived a single life until 1864 when he was married to his present wife, Miss Nan Steight on January 21. The same year he went into service of this country in the civil war in the 14 Iowa Inf., Co. D and was mustered out at the close of the war.

He was a consistent Christian almost all of his life, belonging to the M.C. church. He leaves to mourn their loss, a faithful and loving wife, Mrs. Nan Stark of Bonaparte; one daughter, Mrs. Lamb of Shambaugh, Iowa; three grandsons; one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Lamb of Burlington; a nephew, John Lamb of Wyoming; and a niece, Mrs. A.A. Ong of Burlington, Iowa; also a host of friends.

Funeral services were held at the Bonaparte M.E. church Tuesday morning at ten o'clock with Rev. Hawk of Farmington in charge. Interment in the Bonaparte cemetery.
