A. H. Fitzgerald, formerly of Harrisburg township, this county, died at Enumelaw, Washington, July 24. Mr. Fitzgerald was born in this county and spent nearly all of his life here. Since removing to Washington, he had visited his daughter, Mrs. J.W. McIntosh, south of Keosauqua, on different occasions, his last being last fall. Mr. Fitzgerald was a good citizen, well to do, and an upright, pleasant gentleman. His many friends in this county, where he spent the greater part of his life received the news of his death with sorrow.
Ambrose Hubert Fitzgerald was born in Van Buren county, Iowa, Sept. 30, 1850, and died at Puyallup, Wash., July 24, 1914.
The deceased spent most of his life in Van Buren county, having spent about four and one half years in Washington and California.
May 7, 1871, he married Miss Clara McIntosh, who died Feb. 3, 1878. He was again married to Miss Belle Meredith on Sept. 14, 1879, who died Feb. 9, 1909, at Sequim, Wash.
He was a member of the Harrisburg Baptist church, also a member of the I.O.O.F. lodge.
He leaves to mourn their loss, one son, Elvin A. of Walnut Ridge, Ark., and three daughters, Mrs. J.W. McIntosh, Bentonsport, Iowa, Mrs. Leroy Alexander, Enumelaw, Wash., and Mrs. Geo. S. McIntosh, Gilroy, Cal., besides two brothers, John W. of Bonaparte, Iowa, and S.M. of Nye, Mont., and two sisters, Mrs. Susan Roseborough, Rice, Idaho, and Mrs. Louisa Hardin, San Miguel, Cal. -- State Line Democrat.
