MRS. DAVID BALES.

Frances Chambers was born in Van Buren county, Iowa, Nov. 6th, 1853, and died at the home of her daughter at Bentonsport, June 16th, 1911, at the age of 57 years, 7 months and 10 days. She was united in marriage to David Bales at Bentonsport on Nov. 28th, 1877. To this union were born three children, George of Portland, Oregon; Nellie, now Mrs. Hal Fulton, of Bentonsport, and Willie who died in infancy.

At the age of nineteen she united with the Presbyterian church at Bentonsport and ever remained a faithful and consistant member. Hers was a busy, active life, not only in the performance of her home duties for her husband and children, but also in every outside work. She has been greatly missed since her removal to Keokuk, nearly two years since, and the loving sympathy of a large circle of friends has ever been with her since that time. For some time she realized that her time here was nearing the end; she never murmured at the decree of her Heavenly Father, but trustingly and cheerfully awaited His summons. Her devoted husband and dear ones unselfishly devoted every means in their power to alleviate her suffering, and to them she has left a precious legacy in the memory of her love.

Funeral services were held in the Presbyterian church at Bentonsport, Sunday, June 18, at 2 p.m., conducted by Rev. H. Taylor of Ottumwa. Interment was at Bentonsport.
