Harryman Dies at 72

MOUNT ZION - Cecil W. Harryman, 72, died at 4:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Van Buren County Memorial Hospital in Keosauqua. He had been in failing health for two months.

Harryman, son of Wade and Elva McCloskey Harryman, was born March 4, 1901 near Douds. He spent his entire life in Van Buren County, the past 20 years in Mount Zion.

On March 30, 1932 at Memphis, Mo., he married Nellie Cowen who survives.

Also surviving are four sons, Cecil Jr., of San Antonio, Tex., Elvan of Kansas City, Kan., Gary of Fort Madison and Marvin at home; two daughters, Mrs. Marlene McLane of Columbus, Ohio and Mrs. Cora Parker of Bonaparte; 14 grandchildren and a brother, Bruce, of Ottumwa. One son preceded him in death.

Harryman was employed as a meter reader for Iowa Electric Light and Power Company until his retirement in 1967. He was a member of the Full Gospel Church in Luray, Mo.

Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at the Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds with the Rev. Harold Shelton officiating. Burial will be in Leando Cemetery.
