DOUDS - Harry E. Carr, 77, retired farmer, died at 5 a.m. today at the Good Samaritan Center in Keosauqua where he had been a resident since October.
Last rites will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds with the Rev. Earl D. Kelly officiating. Burial will be in Leando Cemetery with military rites in charge of John Hyson Reneker Post.
The son of Stephen A. and Mary Gardner Carr, he was born Nov. 14, 1895, near Libertyville. He spent most of his life farming south of Douds.
His marriage to Mary Mae Plowman took place in 1920. She died in 1965.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Madelyn Davis, Keosauqua; eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Beth McIntosh, Eldon; and four brothers, Robert and Charles, both of Eldon; Clyde, Fairfield; and Thomas, Palo Verde, Calif.
Carr was a veteran of World War I, a 50-year member of John Hyson Reneker Post 494, American Legion in Douds; and served a number of years on the Douds School Board and the Douds-Leando Telephone Company Board.
