Mrs. Jerome Long.

**Handwritten: 1908

Elizabeth Davis, daughter of Extine and Julia A. Davis was born on Vermom Prairie, Van Buren County, Iowa, Sept. 3, 1848, being the oldest of eleven children, five sons and six daughters, nine of whom are living.

December 9, 1868, she married Jerome Long and to this union five children were born, of whom Wallace Aged seven, Clara Belle aged six months and Mary F. aged about six months preceded her to the better land. Mrs. Hattie Thomas of Iowa City and Elmer of Bonaparte are left with the husband and two grandchildren to mourn.

Mrs. Long spent all her life in this county except five years which were spent in Scotland County, Mo. While in Missouri she united with the Cumberland Presbyterian church and after her removal to Bonaparte she joined the Presbyterian church by letter.

She had been a constant sufferer for twenty eight years with an incurable disease but through it all was patient and resigned. She was a true companion and helpmate, a good housekeeper and homemaker, an upright christian woman. She was unconscious for several hours before the end, but she had previously arranged her burial clothing and made preparations for the end which she knew was soon to come, and which did come peacefully about five o'clock, a.m., Saturday, Feb. 9, being 59 years, 5 months and 5 days old.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Rev. Clark in charge. The remains were laid to rest in the Bonaparte cemetery.
