Mable S. Forbes, 95, of Fairfield died at 6:35 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001, at Nelson Nursing Home, 807-809 W. Taylor Ave.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with the Rev. ellis andrews officiating. Burial will be in Forbes Cemetery, north of Keosauqua.
Open visitation began at 2 p.m., and family will be present from 3-5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorials to Osteoporosis Society may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 113 Palmer Drive, Clayton, N.C., 27520.
Mrs. Forbes was born Aug. 7, 1906, in Oxford, the daughter of the Rev. James C. and Marilda Landreth Austin. She married Donald Forbes Nov. 20, 1926. He died in November 1965.
The Forbeses operated lumber yards in Iowa before moving to Colorado. Mrs. Forbes was excutive secretary to George Robie at Firemans' Fund Insurance Company, in Denver, Colo., for several years, retiring in 1971, and moving to Fairfield.
She was a Jefferson County Hospital Auxiliary volunteer and a member of First United Methodist Church in Fairfield.
She had resided at the care center since 1996.
Survivors include one son-in-law, Clive Collins of Clayton, N.C.; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mary Morrison of Fairfield and Orpha Morgan of Dallas, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Donna Jo Collins; four brothers, Kenneth, Raymond, Reuben and infant John Austin; and three sisters, Florence Smith, Beulah Beck and Ruth Austin.
