From Stockport News:

Mrs. Anne Rex Vale, for almost half a century was a resident of Harrisburg Township, died at the Vale homestead at 4 o'clock ??nday morning after a short illness with ???oplexy. The funeral services occurred from Harrisburg Baptist church Tuesday morning, conducted by Rev. Bancroft and a large number of friends followed the deceased to her last resting place in Vale Cemetery.

She was born on October 10, 1823 in Pennsylvania. She was united in marriage to Jacob G. Vale, in Jefferson county, Ohio, in 1846 and they moved to Primrose, Iowa in 1850. In 1856 they removed to Harrisburg Township where they made their home the remainder of their lives, the husband dying in 1874. To this union were born three children, all of whom survive. They are Ex-Senator B.R. Vale and Mrs. A.J. Leffler, of Harrisburg Township, and Mrs. Martha M. Downie, of Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania.

Jacob G. Vale was well known throughout Iowa. He represented the Van Buren-Jefferson state senatorial district, as did his son, B.R. in later years, and was also the candidate of the People's party for governor a number of years ago.

Mr. Vale was one of the grand, old pioneer mothers who played such an important part in early history of the West and who are now rapidly passing away. She was a noble Christian woman who was loved and respected by all who knew her, for her very good qualities.
