Ira Morris Jr., 59, dies

Ira A. Morris Jr., 59, Route 3, died at 6:45 a.m. Tuesday at Jefferson County Hospital, where he had been taken a short time before by ambulance.

Services are tentatively set for Friday at Raymond Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mt. Moriah Cemetery north of Douds. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Morris was Dec. 10, 1924 in Missouri, the son of Ira Albert and and Velma Stull Morris. He grew up in Van Buren County and lived most of his life in Jefferson County. On July 30, 1950, he married Patty Carmichael in Fairfield. She survives.

Also are two daughters, Lee Ann Smith of Sioux City and Paula Welcher of Lockridge; one brother, N.L. "Jim" Stull of Fairfield, and one sister, Ruth Allender of Des Moines. His parents preceded him in death.

Morris was a member of Jehovah's Witnesses. He was employed at Louden's, Fairfield Engineering and Fairfield Aluminum Castings before retiring.
