STOCKPORT - Clara J. Smutz, 80, died Wednesday night at the Van Buren County Memorial Hospital after a lenghty illness.
Funeral services will be Sunday, May 13, at 2 p.m. at the Stockport United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Hillsboro Cemetery. Burch Funeral Home in Birmingham is in charge of arrangements.
Clara J. Smutz was born Aug. 30, 1892, at Bonaparte. She was the daughter of Darius and Anna Clark Derr.
Her marriage to Sam B.(S.) Smutz took place Feb. 12, 1917, at Bonaparte. He died Jan. 18, 1973.
Survivors include two sons, Waldo Smutz, Keosauqua, and Red Smutz, Columbus, Ohio; 12 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; and a brother, Oscar Derr, Los Angeles, Calif.
She was preceded in death by one son, two daughters, three brothers and one sister.
