Last rites for Argus Rambo, longtime Jefferson County farmer who died Friday, were held at 2 p.m. today at the Weston Behner Funeral Home.
The Rev. George Koch officiated and burial was in Zion Lutheran Cemetery east of Douds.
Rambo died Friday night at Baraboo, Wis., where he was making his home with his son George, the past two years after retiring from his farm northwest of Fairfield.
Argus Rambo, 76, was born June 5, 1896, at Keosauqua, the son of Cyrus and Flora Denning Rambo. He was married to Edna Morrow Oct. 25, 1916. She survives.
Rambo had made his home in the Fairfield Community for over 40 years. He was the first cooperator to sign up with the Jefferson County Soil Conservation District in April, 1942. His first project was to plant 1000 trees on his farm.
In addition to his wife Rambo is survived by two sons, George, Baraboo, Wis., and David, Fairfield; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; also one sister, Mary Morrow, West Des Moines.
He was preceded in death by three half-brother and three half-sisters.
