Died – at the home of her son, Richard Rice, Cloquet, Minn., September 15, 1900, Mrs. M. A. Rice, aged 76 yrs.
Mrs. Rice was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Bateman, and was born in Bangalor, India, in 1835. She was married to Donald Monroe in April 1845. They moved to South Hamton, England, and lived there until his death, which occurred in March, 1857. In May of the same year she was united in marriage with T. A. Rice, who died in 1805 [as written], near Hillsboro.
She leaves to mourn their loss eight children, among them being Mrs. O. Coolidge and Mrs. W. C. Sturdivant of Bonaparte, and Mary Sappington, of Anson, Mo. At the time of her death her brother and wife Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Bateman of Seymore, Io.
Services occurred from the Episcopal church in Cloquet, Sept. 16, 1800 [1900], and interment was made in the Cloquet cemetery.
