Catharina Jantina Vidya VAN ROOD, 53, of 2000 N. Court St. No. 10K, died at 5:20 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, 2000, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday. The location will be announced later.

Catharina Jantina "Karien" NOLLE was born Dec. 25, 1945, in Djarkarta, Batavia, which is now the country of Indonesia. She was the daughter of Frits and Nell NOLLE of the Netherlands. She married Kester Robin MACFARLANE Aug. 3, 1963, in Eastbourne, Wellington. They were divorced Feb. 20, 1975. She married Steven James GARNER May 24, 1980, in Wellington, New Zealand. They were divorced Sept. 20, 1991.
The Nolle family returned to the Netherlands, then immigrated to New Zealand and settled in Days Bay, Wellington, when she was 9. She attended Muritai School in Eastbourne and Hutt Valley High School in Lower Hutt. She was registerd as a New Zealand citizen Nov. 28, 1967.
She and Mr. Macfarlane lived in Days Bay, where they founded the newpaper Contact, which is one of the largest newspapers in New Zealand today. She cofounded Estuary School in Petone, Wellington.
She became a teacher of Transcendental Meditation and completed Age of Enlightenment Governor training in Europe and Age of Elightenment Minister training in Thailand. She is one of the founders of the Wellington and Auckland Capitals of the Age of Enlightenment.
She and Mr. Garner immigrated to Fairfild in July 1985. She became a permanent United States resident June 26, 1990.
She attended Maharishi University of Management and graduated with a bachelor of fine arts in June 1999. She operated her own business, DK Enterprises, and incorporated DK Asset Management Corporation in Iowa June 19.
Survivors include two daughters, Inger Nina Heleena MACFARLANE and Melissa Devi GARNER; one son, Kapila Lincoln Shanta GARNER; and one brother, Peter Jan NOLLE of Wellington, New Zealand.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Sacha Catherina MACFARLANE; and her parents.
