Frances M. Wilson, 85, 807 W. Taylor Ave., died at 2:15 a.m. Monday, April 23, 2001, at Nelson Nursing Home.
A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church, with the Rev. James Wotherspoon officiating. Burial will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery in Birmingham.
The family will received friends from 6-7:30 tonight at the Raymond Funeral Home. Memorials have been established to the Alzheimer's Foundation or to the activity fund at Nelson Nursing Home.
Mrs. Wilson was born Aug. 4, 1915, in Edna, Texas, the daughter of Leslie and Iva Townsend Turpin. She married John David Wilson. He died in 1963.
She grew up in the Libertyville-Birmingham community. She worked as a telephone operator in Birmingham, and later worked as a clerk at Martin Pharmacy in Fairfield for 26 years.
She was a member of the Methodist Church and was active in the Methodist Church Guild.
Survivors include one son, David Wilson and wife Margaret of Fairfield; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Addis, Arden and Don Turpin; and three sisters, Lenore Doughty, Florence Crowley and Lorraine Maddix.
