AMANDA PERKINS FOWLER.
Died at Keosauqua, March 13, 1902,
aged 54 years, 1 month
and 17 days.
OBITUARY NOTICE.

Amanda Perkins Fowler was born near Bonaparte, Jan. 26, 1848, and died at her home in Keosauqua, March 13, 1902, aged 54 years, 1 month and 17 days.

She was a daughter of William and Mary Myers Perkins and her early life was spent in Bonaparte. February 12, 1867, she was united in marriage with James A. Fowler, and the first five years of their married life were spent on a farm near Bonaparte. In March, 1874, they located in Vernon Twp., 2 1/2 miles east of Mt. Sterling. There they lived until 1890 when they removed to a farm near Bonaparte. In February 1893, Mr. and Mrs. Fowler moved to Keosauqua where they have since lived.

Mrs. Fowler united with the Methodist Episcopal church of Mt. Sterling in 1890, Rev. C. W. Wilson being her pastor. Her membership, with that of her husband, was placed in the M. E. church of Keosauqua in 1899. Mrs. Fowler was a charter member of the Keosauqua Rebecca Lodge No. 340, holding the official position of Post Noble Grand. She was also a member of the Eastern Star.

Through all the years of earthly toil, she was truly a helpmate to her husband, a devoted wife, a loving mother and a good neighbor, having the respect and love of those who knew her. Her sickness was of short duration, but for nine days she passed through the valley of suffering, before the spirit found relief in the glad, triumphant death of the Christian.

Mr. and Mrs. Fowler were the parents of one son and two daughters, one Bertha, having died at the tender age of four years. The children left to mourn the loss of a mother are William H., living near Mt. Sterling, and Annie May, now Mrs. E. W. Peacock. She leaves a husband, who mourns the loss of a true and loving wife, and four brothers, Chas. A. of Lincoln, Neb., Robert Allen and Frank Alexander near Bonaparte and Geo. W. Perkins near Ayrshire, Iowa. Two grand-children and many friends also mourn their loss.

The funeral was held from the Methodist church in Keosauqua Sunday at 11 A. M., Rev. W. R. Jeffrey, Jr., conducting the service. The body was interred in the cemetery at Keosauqua.
