BAINUM, NEWELL, GROUSBECK, WALKER, PLEASANTS

Word was received last week announcing the death of Mrs. J. W. Bainum, which occurred December 24th, at the home of her son George at Fort Scott, Kansas. She was the second daughter of George W. and Matilda Newell and was born in Indian in March, 1854, coming to Birmingham when a small child.

She was married to Capt. James Grousbeck in February, 1864, who died in June, 1866. She was married to J. W. Bainum in 1868, who died July, 1915, since which time she has been a helpless invalid, living with her son George. Her age was 76 years and 9 months. She was a sister of Mrs. Jane Walker of Fairfield and Josephine Pleasants of this place.

Note: Her birth year is apparently incorrect, born: 1854, married: 1864. The rest of the obituaries on the page are 1907-1915.
