Nedra Theresa Fishel

Nedra Theresa Fishel, 82, of Washington, died at 1:50 a.m. Sunday, March 24, 2002, at the Washington County Hospital.

The body has been cremated. A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Raymond Funeral Home, with the Rev. Marvin Robeck officiating. Burial will be at a later date.

The family will receive friends at a reception tea, following the service at the funeral home at the First Lutheran Church. Memorials have been established to the First Lutheran Church, Augustana Lutheran Church, The Long Term Care Unit of the Jefferson County Hospital or to the children’s department of the Fairfield Public Library.

Mrs. Fishel was born July 5, 1919, in Stockport, the daughter of Frank J. and Kittie Bell Helfenstein Archibald. She married Robert M. Fishel April 12, 1941, at the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Fairfield. He died April 4, 1983.

She grew up in the Lockridge community and attended Parsons College. After she was married, she and her husband lived in Geneva, New York, Burlington, Mediapolis and Fairfield. She moved to the Halycon House in Washington about a month ago. She worked at the Dexter Company, the Louisa County Assessor’s office and for the Jefferson County Assessor’s office since 1975.

She was a member of the First Lutheran Church, the Fairfield Women’s Club. She was an avid bridge player, she loved to cook, garden, shop and sew for her granddaughter. She collected tea cups and tea pots. A music lover, she enjoyed attending musical shows, traveling and her great-granddaughters loved to have her read to them. She and her husband also had been active members of the First Augustana Lutheran Church in Lockridge.

Survivors include one daughter, Sharon Norton and husband Kenneth of Fairfield; one granddaughter Lori Pacha and husband Rick of Davenport; two great-granddaughters, Chloe and Oliva Pacha; one sister Shirley Gustafson and husband Russell of Overland Park, Kan. and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Gene Archibald.
