A. H. Smith

Andrew Harding Smith, was born at Pleasant Grove, Des Moines County, State of Iowa, on Dec. 7, 1840 and departed this life at Douds, Iowa, on June 9, 1924, aged 83 years, 6 months and 2 days.

He was united in marriage to Mary E. Newhouse in 1862.

His wife preceded him in death in 1881. To this union was born one son, John Melvin Smith who survives him, also five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted in the Smith cemetery near Birmingham, Iowa, on Tuesday, June 10th, by the Rev. G. H. Smith, pastor of the M. E. church. Two songs “Just as I am” and “Beautiful Isle of Somewhere” were sung by Mesdames Emma Schlarbaum and Turner and Rev. G. H. Smith.

Interment was made in the Smith cemetery.
