Wm. A. Luke, a member of the 53d Indiana Infantry during the war, died in Keosauqua Monday about noon. He had been in poor health for some time and had become addicted to the eating of opium and morphine. During the last few days his physician tried to keep it away from him, but Sunday he sent to the drug store and procured a quantity of it and eat so much that he was thrown into a stupor that ended in death. He was about 53 years of age.---Republican.
