SHERMAN J. BAKER

Sherman J. Baker, 87, died at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14, at the Van Buren County Memorial Hospital, Keosauqua, where he had been a patient for about two weeks.

The son of John and Margaret Cecil Baker, he was born Oct. 21, 1882 in Coles County, Ill. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, January 16, at the Catcott Funeral Home, with the Rev. Howard McPeak in charge. Burial was in Purdom Cemetery at Keosauqua.

He is survived by his former wife, Mrs. Elsie May Baker of Crafton, Iowa; six sons, Lawrence Baker of Creston, Donald Baker of Lebanon, Mo.; John Baker of Stockport, Dale Baker of Illinois, Charles Baker of Carroll, Iowa and Walter Baker of rural Keosauqua; three daughters, Mrs. Lester Carlson of Creston, Mrs. Basil Means of Cromwell, Iowa, and Mrs. Frank Hood of Murray, Iowa.
