CLYDE E. BICKEL

Clyde E. Bickel 62, died Monday, Feb. 16, at Harbor General Hospital in Torrence, Calif.

He was born, the son of William H. Bickel and Cora Darby Bickel, on October 16, 1907 at rural Pulaski.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Rolland Andrews, Milton, Mrs. Lester Pender, Memphis, Mo., Mrs. Robert Enlow, Bloomfield; one son, Claude of West Burlington; one sister, Mrs. Maurice Rump of Ottumwa; two brothers, Marvin of Albia, Ormel of Milton; 17 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother; one grandson, Curtis Pender; two brothers, Frank and Will and two sisters, Lucille and Velma (Mrs. Orville Thomas).

Prior to World War II, he enlisted in Canada, and served in the RAF as a Fighter Pilot receiving high service honors. He was a veteran of World War II, receiving high honors including the Distinguished Flynz Cross and the Air Medal with four Oak Leaf clusters.

Graveside services were held in Pulaski cemetery at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 28, conducted by the Rev. Hervert Phillips of the Milton United Methodist Church. The Russell-Strait Legion Post was in charge of military rites.
