1965William A. Daniels
DOUDS - William Arthur Daniels, 61, owner of Daniels Appliance Store, died of a heart attack at his home today at 3:10 a.m.
The son of John and Edna Mabel Tanner Daniels, he was born Jan. 18, 1904, at Ottumwa, where he spent his early youth. As a young man he moved with his parents to Douds, where his father operated a coal mine. For many years he was associated with his father and a brother in the coal business. Later he was employed at the Douds Stone Quarry.
For a number of years he operated the Douds Cafe and in 1951 he opened the present appliance store.
On July 2, 1955, he married Frances Kelley Greenfield at Nashua, who survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Joyce, at home; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Snyder of Charleston, S.C.; four sisters, Mrs. Mabel Higdon of Ottumwa, Mrs. Edith Renes of Des Moines, Mrs. Alice Brown and Mrs. Margaret Morrow, both of Douds; and two brothers, John of Fairfield and Clarence of Ottumwa.
A sister preceded him in death.
He took part in various community activities and was active in the Zion Bible Church, of which he was treasurer.
The service will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Zion Bible Church with the Rev. Donald Wright, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery. The body is at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds.
