Homer H. Hunter, 74, of Keosauqua, died Wednesday, June 3, at 3:20 a.m. in the Van Buren County Memorial Hospital, Keosauqua.
He was born May 2, 1896 at Riverside, Iowa, the son of John and Nora Hunter.
He was married to Lillie M. Lawrence Sept. 28, 1919 at the Barker parsonage, rural Dowing, Mo.
He was a truck driver. Most of his life was spent in or near Milton. He was a member of the Barker United Brethren church, also a member of the Knights of Pythias of Milton.
Surviving in addition to his wife; one son, Harry R. of Milford; five daughters, Mrs. Jay (Opal) Armstrong of Farmington, Mrs. Francis (Hazel) Boyd of Milton, Mrs. David (Ann) Gipson of LaMonto, Mo., Mrs. Craig (Velma) Kaiser of Indianola, Mrs. Donald (Wanda) Nance of Fairfield; 25 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, two step-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Velma Nelson of Memphis, Mo. and Mrs. Mable Baird of Keokuk; two brothers, Gale of Memphis, Mo. and John Jr. of Belton, Mo.; also many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Sylvia Mae, his parents, and three brothers.
The funeral service was held Friday, June 5, at 2 p.m. in the Christian Church of Milton. Burial was in the Barker cemetery of the United Methodist church near Downing, Mo.
Arrangements were in charge of Wellborn Funeral Home of Milton.
