Frank Small Dies Suddenly
in Fairfield Hospital

Frank Small of Birmingham, who suffered a stroke of paralysis on Monday, June 2, died suddenly on Tuesday afternoon at three o’clock at the Jefferson county hospital.

He grew to manhood in the state of Maine, went west in 1879 and located in Nevada where he met Anna Melvina Hootman of Birmingham and they were united in marriage on Nov. 11, 1880, at the home of her uncle, Grant Allen.

They lived in Nevada four years then came to Birmingham and bought a farm about four miles south of town, which they have since owned. Birmingham has since been the family home with the exception of four years in Montana.

Mr. and Mrs. Small celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary last November 11th with a cooperative dinner for their relatives and friends at the Presbyterian church, next door to their home.

Mr. Small is well known in the community and throughout the county as a successful businessman and of the Van Buren County Mutual Telephone company. A more complete story of his life will be published next week.

Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at two o’clock at the Presbyterian church, conducted by Rev. R. T. Fine of Burlington, assisted by Rev. H. C. Irvine. Interment in Maple Hill cemetery.
