Mrs. Anderson Passes Away at Age of 85 Years

Mrs. Phebe A. Anderson of 4963 Townsend Avenue, passed away at her home on Wednesday afternoon at the age of 85 years. She leaves her husband Joseph F. Anderson and two daughters, Mrs. Ellen A. Jones and Mrs. R.C. Carley and a son who lived with them, J. Foster Anderson and three grandchildren, Ensign Frank A. Jones, and Elizabeth and Martha Carley. In three weeks they would have celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary.

She was born in Illinois in 1858, coming to California at the age of ten years with her parents on the serond (??second) train that crossed the continent, settling on a farm in Northern California. Her father came from England and her mother's family, the Lincolns, the same as Abraham Lincoln's, came from England to Massachusetts in 1636.

Mr. and Mrs. Anderson came to Eagle Rock 15 years ago from Santa Cruz. At different periods they lived at Hermosa Beach where they were leader in church work and organiz- both active in the Community Baptist Church of which they are members. Mrs. Anderson a ed Sunday Schools for children in amny new communities. For the past four years, she has been confined to her home but has always been cheerful and a blessing to those around her, always busy with her hands. She was the kind of a person, he family rise up and call blessed.
