Lola I. Nelson

Lola I. Nelson, 69, of _1/2 miles north of Birmingham, died at the Laughlin hospital, Kirksville, Mo., at 1:15 p.m. Monday. She had been in poor health for a year and critically ill three months.

The daughter of Athalia and Flavis Sepes (sic: Spees), she was born May 11, 1882, in Van Buren county and had spent her life in Jefferson and Van Buren counties. She was a member of the Birmingham Methodist church.

She was married April 1, 1901, to Roderick B. Nelson, who died Aug. 12, 1950. A sister, Susie Hall, died in 1935. She is survived by a brother, Will Spees of Birmingham, two nieces and two nephews.

Funeral services were held in Batavia at 2 p.m. with the Rev. H.C. Irvine of Birmingham officiating. Burial was in Birmingham Maple Hill cemetery.
