Lyda Crum, Dies At 100

Mary Lyda Crum, 100, died Friday, October 14, at 1:14 p.m. at Nelson Nursing Home in Fairfield, where she had been a resident for two years. She had been in failing health for two months.

Mrs. Crum was a member of the Morris family, Van Buren County pioneers who settled in the Stockport area in 1838. She was also proud of her royal French origins. Her great grandfather Ebert was a cousin of King Louis XVI and his sister was a lady-in-waiting to Queen Antionette.

The funeral was Monday, October 17 at 2 p.m. at Stockport United Methodist Church with the Rev. David R. Kennedy officiating. Burial was in Spencer Cemetery. The family will recieve friends at Weston Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield Sunday from 7 to 8 p.m.

Born Nov. 30, 1876, north of Stockport, she was the daughter of Alexander H. and Harriet Ebert Morris. In 1895 she was married to Harvey A. Knowles. He died in 1941. In 1943, she married Elton M. Crum. He died in 1958.

She lived most of her life in the Stockport community. She was a member of Stockport United Methodist Church.

She is survived by one son, Elmer Knowles of Stockport and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son.
