Wife of Birmingham Postmaster is Survived
By 5 Sons, Sister and Brother

Mrs. Elizabeth Shott, wife of W. R. Shott, Birmingham postmaster, died at her home in Birmingham at 3:30 o’clock Sunday afternoon after being in failing health about a year and a half.

Mrs. Shott, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Glotfelty, was born April 17, 1971 at the Glotfelty farm one mile northwest of Birmingham. She was united in marriage to Mr. Shott on December 8, 1896, and to the union were born six sons, Max Shott, youngest of the sons, was killed in an accident at Butte, Mont., last August while he was engaged in construction work.

Surviving Mrs. Shott, are her husband; five sons, Ralph Shott of Birmingham, Deputy Treasurer George Shott of Keosauqua, John Shott of Washington, D. C., Frank Shott of Butte, Mont. and William Shott, Jr. of Columbia, Mont.; a sister, Mrs. Walter Morrell of Birmingham; a brother, Charles Glotfelty of Keosauqua, and two grandchildren. Her parents, sister and one son preceded her in death.

The funeral will be held from the home at 10 o’clock Wednesday morning. Burial will be at the Evergreen cemetery near Birmingham.

Note: Elizabeth SHOTT is listed in the gravestone inventory of Maple Hill Cemetery, Birmingham, as is her husband William. We know of no Evergreen Cemetery ever existing in Van Buren County. Perhaps an error by the funeral home as there is a large Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield, Jefferson County. - VBCo IAGenWeb
