MILDRED B. RAMSEY

Mildred B. Ramsey, 85, of Birmingham died March 7, 1977, at her home.

She was born Aug. 18, 1911, near Perlee in Jefferson County to Charles and Catherine Collett Black. She married Rex Ramsey on March 18, 1930, in Cantril. he (sic: He) died Dec. 3, 1979.

She grew up in Antioch and attended high school in Keosauqua. She lived in Birmingham all her adult life. She was a homemaker and baby-sat for several families. She was a member of Birmingham Presbyterian Church, Presbyterian Women and Van Buren County Historical Society.

She is survived by two sons, Vernie Ramsey of Birmingham and Robert "Jim" Ramsey of Keosauqua; three daughters, Nancy Craff of Birmingham and Mary Bagby and Katherine Shelangoski of Fairfield; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; a sister, Alice Hootman of Webster; and a brother, Robert Lovedy of Fort Madison.

She was preceded in death by a son, Roy; two grandchildren and three brothers, Raymond Collett, Leonard Lovedy and Roy Black.

The services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 10, 1997 at Birmingham Presbyterian Church, the Rev. David Kennedy officiating. Burial was in Maple Hill Cemetery in Birmingham.

Memorials may be made to Presbyterian Women or Van Buren County Historical Society.

Burch-Raymond Funeral Home, Birmingham, was in charge of arrangements.
