MARY A. MOORE

Mary Ann Moore, daughter of Thomas and Mary Ford Lyon, was born October 31, 1891, in Van Buren County, and departed this life Monday, October 10, 1977, at her home in Downing, Missouri at the age of 85.

In 1915, she married Robert Moore. They farmed near Mt. Zion. He died in 1921. Mrs. Moore lived in Stockport and Keosauqua, as well as a number of years in Ottumwa. She moved to Downing a year ago.

Remaining to cherish her memory are two daughters, Mrs. Arlene Bottorf of Des Moines and Mrs. Margaret Slutts of Downing; a son, Robert Moore of Phoenix, Arizona; six grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Hazel Johnson of Birmingham, Mrs. Gladys Stilwell of Wayland, Miss Ida Mae Lyon and Mrs. Cleola Brightwell both of Denver, Colorado, other relatives and many friends.

A daughter, Ruth Meyer, and a grandson, Theodore M. Slutts preceded her in death.

She was an active member of Faith Mission Baptisit Church in Keosauqua and will be remembered for her devotion to her Lord, her home, and her family.

Funeral services were held Thursday October 13, 1977, at 2 p.m. at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with the Rev. L. Slutz (sic: Slutts) of Newton, Kansas, a grandson of Mrs. Moore, and the Rev. Larry Smith, pastor of Faith Mission Baptist Church officiating. Musicians were Rev. Smith, Kerry and Kevin Wilson, and Gloria Weirbach. Pallbearers were Kevin and Kerry Wilson, Mark and John Rollins, Tom Wilson, and Rev. Smith. Interment was in Miller Chapel Cemetery near Keosauqua.

(I research both the FORD and LYON lineage.)
