JAMES V. SCHOLL

James Vergil Scholl, son of Peter and Eliza Scholl, was born in Pike county, Ill., May 10, 1850, and departed this life at his home south of Milton, Iowa, January 13, 1929, aged 78 years, 8 months and 3 days. He came to the state of Iowa in 1880 and has been a resident ever since. On March 12, 1885, he was united in marriage with Miss Ella Pol, who has remained his faithful companion through all the years. During his last illness it was she who constantly remained at his side, rendering such aid and comfort as was within her power.

Mr. Scholl was a good neighbor, a trustworthy business man, and a steadfast friend, and there are many of his friends who are glad at this time to recall the numerous acts he has performed, unselfishly and without the thought of a return. For over 42 years he and his family have lived within a radius of about five miles of Milton, which has enabled him to form a large acquaintance among the substantial people of the community, and they have found him to be a man of unimpeachable characer[sic] and high ideals, and in every way to be worthy of the name of an estimable citizen, a kind neighbor and an energetic farmer, a wise counsellor[sic], a beloved husband and an indulgent father.

He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved wife and six children – J.E., of Chicago; C.E., of Detroit; Mrs. Ethel Sears, of Bentonsport; Mrs. Opal Shaw, of Little York, Ill.; John and Henderson, of Milton; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Anna King, of Mt. Sterling, Ill., and Mrs. Minnie Robinson, of St. Louis, besides numerous other relatives and friends.

The funeral was held from the home, Wednesday at 2 p.m., conducted by Rev. C.B. Ryhill. Interment in the Milton cemetery.
