HELEN JUNE BAKER

Miss Helen June Baker, daughter of Charles A. and Frances Ann Overman Baker, was born at Keosauqua, Iowa, February 14, 1884 and passed away at the Van Buren County Memorial Hospital on Monday afternoon, July 31, 1972.

When Helen was 16 years of age, she moved with her parents to Mt. Ayr, Iowa where she finished high school. Later she attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa. For 40 years Helen taught school in southwest Iowa and in Polk County near Des Moines.

She retired at the age of 65 years and lived for five years in Florida. She returned to Fairfield where she lived until 1968 when she became as resident of the Holden nursing Home in Keosauqua.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Cora Baker Harris. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Virginia Endersby of Hillsboro and one cousin, Miss Bess Overman of Keosauqua.

The funeral service was held at the Catcott Funeral Home in Keosauqua on Wednesday, Aug. 2, at 10:30 a.m. in charge of Rev. Lester Smith of Hillsboro. Interment was in the Hillsboro Cemetery.
