Miss Opal Margaret Beans, daughter of Grant and Louisa Parkins Beans was born May 23, 1898, and passed away Wednesday morning, May 31, 1972 at the Moore Nursing Home in Stockport, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Mrs. Mary Pearl Goessling, and a brother, Lloyd Parkins Beans.
Opal was a former Sunday School teacher and a member of Milton United Methodist Church. She had taught school several years in Davis County, and also worked as a switchboard operator in Burlington and Milton.
She is survived by several cousins. Mrs. Willa Jamison of Cantril; Mr. Otto Gilchrist of Milton; Mrs. Marcia McLeland and Mr. Norvin Gilchrist of Ft. Madison; and James Gilchrist of Ottumwa; two nephews, Charles Goessling of Garden Grove, California; and Donald Beans of Bonaire, Netherlands (Antille); a niece, Mr. Margaret Benton and Florence Beans, a sister-in-law, both of Jackson, Mich.
Funeral services were held on Friday afternoon, June 1 at 2 p.m. in Grace United Methodist Church of Milton with Rev. Dale Church officiating.
Interment was in Round Grove Cemetery, about 10 miles southwest of Milton.
