March 14, 1974MRS. ASA L. FELLOWS
Edith C. Fellows, 84, widow of Asa L. Fellows, died at 11:15 a.m. Monday at Van Buren County Memorial hospital in Keosauqua where she had been a patient since March 5. The daughter of Albert and Cynthia Argenbright, she was born June 23, 1889 near Ratcliffsburg, Ohio. At the age of eight she moved with her parents to a farm near Hedrick where she attended high school. On September 8, 1908 she married Mr. Fellows at Hedrick. Except for a year in Hecrick, they lived on the Fellows Homestead east of Douds until 1968 when they retired and moved to Douds. Mr. Fellows died in 1972.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Marjorie, son, Ralph and several brothers and sisters.
Surviving is a daughter, Mrs. Merwin Wilson of Lyndon, Kansas, four grandchildren, a great granddaughter and a brother, Howard Clark of Burlington.
Mrs. Fellows was an active member of the Christ United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, 50-year member and past matron of Twin City Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, 50-year member and past chief of Douds Temple of Pythian Sisters, member of the Golden Age Club, Keosauqua.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Christ United Methodist Church in Douds with Rev. Gerald Caughron and Rev. Earl D. Kelly, officiating. Interment was in Ottumwa Cemetery.
A memorial was established for the United Methodist Parsonage Fund. Arrangements were in charge of Pedricks Funeral Home, Douds.
