February 28, 1980SUSANNAH T. PHELPS
Susannah T. Phelps, daughter of Macajah and Albert Pool Poulter, was born July 19,1898 at Salem and departed this life Friday, Feb. 22, 1980, at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital in Keosauqua at the age of 81.
On September 3, 1924, she married T.M. Phelps at Mr. Pleasant. They farmed 55 years on their present farm in Harrisburg Township, Van Buren County.
Remaining to cherish her memory are her husband, four sons, John (Pete), Tucson, Arizona; Tom Chicago, Ill.; Bill, Milan, Missouri; and Dave, Hillsboro; and five daughters, Ruth Noren, Superior, Nebraska; Lois Noll, Stockport; Dorothy Miller, Oxen Hill, Maryland; Helen Mathews, Mt. Union; and Mary Kongable, Winfield. Also surviving are 28 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, a sister, Mae Smith and a brother, R.W. Poulter, both of Mt. Pleasant.
Mrs. Phelps was a member of the Harrisburg Baptist Church, Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters of American Colonists, and was a Wallace's Farmer Master Homemaker.
Funeral services were held on Monday, Feb. 25, 1980, at 2 P.M. at the Harrisburg Baptist Church, with Rev. Lester Smith, pastor, officiating. Interment was in Vale Cemetery in Harrisburg Township. Arrangements were in charge of Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua. A memorial was established for the Easter Seal Society.
