ELIZABETH C. WALLINGFORD

Elizabeth C. Wallingford, daughter of Louis and Caroline Burgraff Schau, was born Feb. 2, 1891, near Farmington and departed this life Tuesday, Feb. 13, 1979, at Van Buren Good Samaritan Center in Keosauqua at the age of 88.

On December 20, 1911, she married George B. Wallingford at Farmington. They farmed in Harrisburg Township until his death in 1942. Mrs. Wallingford then moved into Bonaparte, where she was employed in a cafe, at a school, and did home nursing.

She was active in the Big Mound United Methodist Church while living on the farm and transferred her membership to the Bonaparte United Methodist Church when she moved to town.

She was the last surviving member of a family of seven children.

Remaining to cherish her memory are her daughter, Edith (Mrs. Ralph) Arnold of rural Keosauqua, a son, Donald R. Wallingford of Burlington, six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends. She will be remembered as a devoted mother and grandmother, a good neighbor and friend.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Feb. 15, 1979, at 1:30 P.M. at the Big Mound United Methodist Church with the Rev. Scott Holmes officiating. Interment was in Vale Cemetery north of Bonaparte. Arrangements were in charge of Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua.
