Harold L. Tweedy, son of William A. and Susan F. Winters Tweedy, was born March 18, 1910, near Libertyville and departed this life Tuesday, June 10, 1980, at Keosauqua at the age of 70.
He worked in coal mines in Jefferson and Van Buren counties and lived a number of years in Ft. Madison, where he was Chief Electrician at the Iowa State Penetentiary.
He was married to Mae Lawson, who died in 1937. He later married Vi Sargeant. On April 30, 1973, he married Fay Knoch. She remains to cherish his memory. Also surviving are two sons Jack of Des Moines and Don of San Antonio, Tex., five daughters, Peggy Washam, Boca Raton, Florida; Mary Lou Todd, Des Moines; Susan Carter, Irving, Texas; Pat Hemmie, Ft. Madison; and Becky Tweedy, Des Moines; 24 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, June 13, 1980 at 10 A.M. at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds, with Rev. Harold Harryman officiating. Interment was in Mt. Moriah Cemetery north of Douds.
