Elmer Starner
Elmer Starner, son of Adam and Lucy Starner, was born April 2, 1867, in Stark county, Ohio. Having lived there until he was 11 years of age, when he came with his parents to Iowa. He passed away at the St. Joseph hospital in Ottumwa at 12:45 a.m. Sunday, September 20, 1936, at the age of 69 years, 5 months and 18 days.
On April 7, 1901, he was united in marriage to Miss Ella Piper, who has preceded him in death. To this union were born two daughters, Mrs. Wilma Halberg, of Muscatine and Mrs. Lucy Harman of Troy, who with three grandchildren, nieces and nephews survive him.
Mr. Starner was a member of the M. E. church of Troy.
He was engaged in farming, having worked at the same farm for 32 years.
He was an untiring worker for his family and will be greatly missed in the home.
Funeral services were held at the Troy M. E. church at 2 p.m. Monday, September 21, 1936, by Rev. Lloyd Tennant, Bloomfield, Iowa. Music by Lester Birchmeir, Mrs. Lewis Moughler, Mrs. Ross Paul and Elbert Birchmier, with Mrs. Lloyd Young at the piano.
