RALPH E. PICKENS

TROY---Ralph E. Pickens, 86, a former resident of Lebanon, north of Cantril in Van Buren county, died February 8 at his home in Mesa, Ariz., following a short illness.

He was born April 16, 1863, in Lee county, Ohio, later moving to Van Buren county, Iowa. He was married to Belle Mooney, who died in 1941. They moved to Arizona in 1918. He was an active member of the Baptist church until his health failed.

He leaves four daughters, Mrs. Thema Sneed of Phoenix, Ariz., Mrs. Mary Helmhout of Gilbert, Ariz., Mrs. Clara Houtman of Revere, Mo., Mrs. Virgie Wilson of San Francisco; five sons, Caleb of Stockton, Calif., Marvin of Riverside, Calif., and Garrett, Isaac and Simon of Mesa, a brother, two sisters, 30 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. Four children died in infancy.
