Mrs. Martha Spraker
Mrs. Martha Spraker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Theophilus Daniels was born March 27, 1850, in West Point, Kentucky, and passed away July 3, 1936, being 86 years, 4 months and 6 days. She came to Iowa when she was two years old and has lived in Van Buren county ever since with the exception of five years which were spent on a farm near Lamar, Missouri.
She was united in marriage to William Tazwell Spraker, September 24, 1868. To this union five children were born. Her husband preceded her in death February 2, 1887, and three of her children, Nancy in infancy, Mrs. Alma Nagle in 1910, and Mrs. Lena Miller in 1915. She was a faithful member of the Methodist church for many years in which she was active as long as her health and strength permitted it.
She is survived by a son, E. A. Spraker of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and a daughter, Mrs. Bird Cassat of Milton; also 12 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild, also one sister, Mrs. Mary Bechtel, of Ottumwa, Iowa, besides other relatives and many friends.
The funeral services were held Monday at 2 p.m. at her home in Milton and were carried out according to the arrangements and plans of the deceased, a very short simple service with only relatives and a few close friends in attendance. The service was in charge of Rev. E. S. Hehner. The casket carriers were six of her grandsons. Interment was in Oak Point cemetery northeast of Milton.
