G.F. Kimmel

BIRMINGHAM - George Francis Kimmel, 80-year-old retired farmer, died in Van Buren County hospital on April 17.

Kimmel had been hospitalized for a week, having suffered a stroke.

A native of the Kilbourne vicinity, Kimmel was born Oct. 11, 1875, the son of Henry and Lucy Jones Kimmel. He was married to Druzilla Mowery on Aug. 3, 1926. She survives, as do two stepsons and two stepdaughters: Harold and Cecil Smith, both of Ottumwa; Mrs. Clarice Courtney, Versailles, Mo., and Mrs. Gleda Middaugh, of Skokie, Ill.l

Also surviving is a brother, John Kimmel, of Washington, Ia.

Two brothers and a sister died previously.

Last rites will be held at the Burch-Catcott funeral home at 2 p.m. Thursday. Officiating will be the Rev. J.C. Austin of Keosauqua. Burial will be in the Kilbourne cemetery.
