FUNERALS

Sadly impressive were the rites over the mortal remains of Miss Eunice Chisman at the Chisman home in Christiansburg this afternoon. The kindly disposition, loveable qualities and pleasing nature of the young lady, as well as her untimely death were all brought home to those present during the impressive funeral service conducted by Rev. C. E. Pettit, who had charge of the sad rites. The music of the ladies quarter from Plymouth Congregational church lent to the sacredness of the occasion and the pall bearers chosen from cousins of the decedent made the services very impressive.

The services were held at 2 p.m. in the M. E. church of Christiansburg, of which the decedent was a member. The interment was in Chisman cemetery.

A TRIBUTE TO MISS EUNICE CHISMAN

Bidwell--This community was shocked and saddened on receiving the news Saturday afternoon that Miss Eunice Chisman had taken her life at the home of her parents Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Chisman, Saturday afternoon, between the hours of one and two o’clock p.m. by shooting herself forehead with a 22 calibre rifle. Miss Chisman was a young woman whose friendship was prized for she was known to be a woman of high ideals and a Christian and whatever the cause that led to the end it is assured that temporarily at least she had lost control of her facilities and did an act that she would have shrunk from with horror in a saner moment. She had been in poor health for some time.

She was 23 years, 4 months and 22 days of age at the time of death and was born on the place from which she departed this life. She leaves to mourn their loss besides her beloved parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Chisman, two brothers, M. F. Chisman of south Ottumwa, J. H. Chisman of Canton, Miss., and one sister Mrs. Elmer Rose of Pleasant Home and a large circle of other relatives and friends.

The funeral services were conducted from the Christiansburg church on Tuesday Aug. 10, at 2 o’clock p.m., the edifice being filled to overflowing with sorrowing relatives and friends of the deceased. The services were beautiful, which is characteristic of Rev. C. E. Petit’s funeral sermons, which pay a glowing tribute to the dead. The floral offerings were many and very beautiful. Following the ceremonies at the church the funeral cortege was one of the largest ever seen in this vicinity following the remains to the Chisman cemetery where they where they were placed in their final resting place.---Contributed.
